Industry research supports this: newcomers find sport daunting, parents feel overwhelmed, and many families simply don’t know where to begin. Our own interviews reinforced this—70% of parents struggled to find basic development services without Googling for hours or asking in school groups.
This is not a niche issue; it’s a national gap.

The Founder’s Story
Sol Mire: Behind Playfield is a lifetime immersed in sport.
From a multi-sport childhood to representing his country in cricket and competing across athletics, hockey, football, rugby, and basketball as a junior, Sol understands the journey young athletes take. For 15 years, he’s coached everyone from beginners to international players. He has consulted for schools, academies, and clubs. Again and again, he saw the same challenge: “..there was no single destination for athlete development services”.
Parents needed guidance. Athletes needed access. Coaches needed visibility.
And no platform existed to bring all of this together.
So he created Playfield—born from lived experience, validated through research, built with purpose, and designed to give every athlete a fair start.

Unfortunately, not every coach might be registered, as we are still building the database.
Anyone passionate about teaching or mentoring a sport either at the beginning or at the professional level. We understand the journey has to start somewhere, so we encourage all coaches with varying experience to list on our directory.
Any place that provides sports coaching and training facilities for individuals and teams can add a listing. This includes sports-specific strength and conditioning venues as well.
We are currently not taking any payments; once we have integrated some systems currently in testing, we will update, but in the meantime, you will have to deal directly with the coaches/venues.
Every review matters as it helps to get a balanced view of experiences. We do, however, consider foul language inappropriate and will not be tolerated. To promote fairness, the coach or venue will be able to respond as necessary.
