PCYC NORTHERN BEACHES

Community Centre
NSW

About

PCYC Northern Beaches, located at 40 Kingsway, Dee Why NSW 2099, is a modern community and entertainment hub designed primarily for the peninsula’s youth. The venue features visually appealing, well-maintained indoor sports courts and versatile multipurpose rooms suitable for a wide range of events. Architecturally, the building is characterized by a distinctive "cloud-like" roof form that gently settles on a podium emerging from the ground, symbolizing its dual function as a community centre above a car park.

The design creatively incorporates natural materials such as off-form concrete, timber floors, and exposed steel structures, reflecting a respectful dialogue with the neighboring Brutalist Dee Why Library and Civic Centre. The internal layout promotes connectivity with a central foyer formed by intersecting pedestrian paths, linking the sports hall, multipurpose rooms, and various functional pods including a Drop-In centre. This spatial arrangement fosters a seamless flow between internal and external areas, enhanced by a landscape designed to integrate native plants and climbing greenery that ground the building within its site.

Serving as both a recreational and social venue, PCYC Northern Beaches stands out as a welcoming space that supports community engagement through sport, events, and youth programs. Its location on the edge of the Dee Why town centre ensures accessibility and connection to the wider civic precinct.
